About Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise created by Joseph Pilates and was originally called Contrology.  It is suitable for all ages and is a low impact, low load method of slow movement that aims to lengthen and increase strength in the body’s muscles.  It is accessible to everyone!  Pilates offers both mind and body conditioning. You will learn to breathe more effectively and improve your core stability.

What do I need for a Pilates session?

It is best to wear close fitting, comfortable clothing that you can easily move in.  Shoes are not worn during the session. Please bring an exercise mat, a small cushion and a towel.

Body Control Pilates

Body Control Pilates is one of the world’s most recognised and respected Pilates organisations.  It is the only UK training provider to offer a course that meets the requirements of both the flagship Society for the Pilates Method standards and the existing Level 3 Pilates certification.

Testimonials

Becky

I really enjoy my lessons with Helen, she offers a well-balanced approach to Pilates. She also pushes the group with slightly more challenging positions so that we build our body strength. The lessons are always light-hearted and we quite often have a giggle. I have attended Helen’s lessons for approximately 6 months and would strongly recommend her to anyone interested in learning Pilates.

Nicky

Really enjoying the online classes with Helen. They are gently challenging, and I feel stronger for it. She adds variety to the classes too, which I love. It’s always fun to try out a new movement or add some equipment to your repertoire, but also fantastic that you don’t need anything but a mat and towel (and some tins of baked beans). Absolutely highly recommend Helen’s Pilates classes and doing the in-person assessment with her if joining an online class.
